Staff Pick: St. Aubin Blanc 1er Cru, “Les Combes,” Marc Colin – 2009

St. Aubin Blanc 1er Cru, "Les Combes," Marc Colin - 2009

MY KIND OF CHARDONNAY. This is a northern-style white Burgundy with a nice acid backbone and lots of zest which burst in your mouth. It is not overoaked like some of warmer climate wines and therefore it does not have that soft approach people are tired of. When I sip this it makes me want a basic French roasted chicken and a few potatoes and green beans. On the finish it has the beginnings of honey which is an indication that it will be a lot different as it ages but will still be a good food and sipping wine. Drink it now when it is young or let it rest for a few years. - Bill F.

Uncategorized

While they say it’s not good to judge a book by its cover, we admittedly sometimes do, and the same goes for wine bottles. But maybe there’s something to this little visual enticement. After all, I’ve enjoyed quite a few books and bottles that have drawn me in with their elaborate designs or simple typography. With this in mind, our Digital and Design team here at Astor Wines & Spirits has compiled a list of our favorite wine labels for your visual enjoyment. Bonus? They’re all delicious.
